Role Overview
As an Associate Security Specialist, you will be responsible for supporting daily security activities to maintain a safe and compliant environment within company facilities. This includes serving as a shift lead, guiding security team members, managing access controls, responding to incidents, and ensuring that all security procedures are implemented consistently and effectively. Your proactive attitude will contribute to the overall safety and smooth functioning of the organization's operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Security Supervisor in overseeing daily operations, personnel, and posts.
- Coordinate activities for guards and ensure tasks are performed according to prescribed protocols.
- Monitor entry points, verify badges, and manage access for visitors, contractors, vehicles, and materials.
- Conduct regular patrols, post inspections, and address minor operational issues promptly.
- Report security breaches, suspicious behaviors, policy violations, or safety concerns without delay.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including shift reports, incident logs, and checklists.
- Secure locations during incidents, gather initial information, and assist in the escalation processes.
- Coach team members on communication, professionalism, customer service, and policy compliance.
- Respond to alarms and coordinate with the control room as assigned.
- Train, mentor, and provide orientation to new security staff at their designated posts.
- Safeguard confidential information and ensure secure handling of all access and incident records.
- Perform additional duties as directed by supervisors.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proven ability to guide and support a team of security professionals during shifts.
- In-depth understanding of access controls, visitor management, and incident escalation.
- Capacity to adhere strictly to standard operating procedures and reporting requirements.
- Strong observation and risk assessment skills.
- Excellent verbal communication, both within the team and with external visitors.
- Professional demeanor, with the ability to maintain composure in challenging situations.
- Competence in preparing detailed reports and maintaining organized records.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office, email, and security management software.
- Customer-focused approach in enforcing security rules consistently.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree, with at least 2 years of security experience in industrial, manufacturing, corporate, or large-scale facility environments.
- Previous experience as a team leader or in a similar supervisory or security post is preferred.
- Familiarity with emergency response procedures and incident management is a plus.
- Relevant security certifications, such as security license, first aid, fire safety, or emergency training are advantageous.
- Willingness to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays, and to support urgent security needs as required.
- Background in corporate or industrial security, military, or law enforcement is an asset.
