About the Role
Limerick Strand Hotel, a distinguished 4-star establishment in the city center, is seeking a skilled and energetic Assistant Front Office Manager. This role involves leading front desk, concierge, guest services, and front door teams to deliver seamless, prompt, and outstanding hospitality experiences. The Assistant Manager will ensure operational excellence, uphold the hotel’s guest service standards, and contribute to the Rooms Division’s profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the availability and efficiency of all front office services with polite and effective conduct.
- Perform system closures to prepare for the hotel’s Night Audit procedures.
- Welcome and attend to VIP guests in line with the hotel’s recognition programs.
- Coordinate closely with other departments for smooth handling of groups and VIP guests.
- Act as deputy for the Front Office Manager during their absence.
- Represent the front office in daily operations meetings and weekly heads-of-department meetings if needed.
- Regularly inspect hotel areas to ensure cleanliness, comfort, and adherence to amenity standards.
- Support and enforce disciplinary policies when required.
- Be fully knowledgeable of emergency procedures including fire, bomb threats, and health and safety, and participate as a member of the Emergency Team.
- Ensure familiarity and compliance with legislation related to hotel operations, particularly concerning alcohol service and consumption.
- Implement policies around incident reporting and follow-up using the logbook system.
- Identify market needs from guests and local clientele to inform service development.
- Plan and execute upselling strategies to maximize room revenue through effective rate management.
- Ensure appropriate room assignments for arrivals.
- Oversee compliance with GDPR guidelines.
- Deliver weekly training sessions to support front office team learning and development.
- Provide on-the-job feedback and coaching for team members.
- Lead by example to motivate and enhance departmental performance.
- Verify accuracy in cash handling procedures; approve float counts and credit card balances per shift.
- Ensure daily checklist completion by front office staff and conduct spot checks as needed.
- Offer constructive feedback and coaching to improve team effectiveness.
- Manage overnight staff to enforce standards and maintain health and safety training; cover shifts as necessary.
- Adhere to local legislation relevant to hotel department operations.
- Respond flexibly to operational changes required by industry trends, company policies, or hotel needs.
- Undertake other reasonable duties within ability, including redeployment to alternate departments if required.
- Participate in training sessions and meetings.
- Assist with or lead departmental communication meetings when necessary.
- Ensure fair and consistent treatment of employees as per employment terms, legislation, and company policies.
- Maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and all departments.
Candidate Profile
- Proven track record in a similar front office or hospitality management capacity.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with commitment to team development.
- Excellent problem-solving aptitude combined with a guest-focused approach.
- Comprehensive knowledge of hotel operations and systems such as Opera PMS, and familiarity with the local area.
