Amsted Design-Build is inviting applications for an experienced Architectural Designer to become a core member of our expanding team. Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with clients to develop design concepts that align with their vision, budget, and project scope.
  • Create detailed architectural drawings spanning conceptual design to permit approvals and construction documentation.
  • Produce comprehensive residential plans, elevations, sections, and precise detailed drawings.
  • Incorporate design refinements from clients and internal staff throughout all phases of design and construction.
  • Assist in on-site reviews, capture field measurements, and coordinate as necessary.
  • Contribute to the team with additional architectural design tasks as required.

Qualifications

  • At least five years of full-time experience in residential architectural design with proven expertise in drafting and drawing.
  • Graduate from an accredited Architectural Technology diploma or architectural program.
  • Advanced skills in Revit software, accompanied by a readiness to adopt new tools and support company standards.
  • In-depth knowledge of residential wood-frame construction techniques and detailing.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Ontario Building Code.
  • Experience with City of Ottawa zoning by-laws and interaction with municipal authorities.
  • Proficient in using standard office applications including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with Autodesk ReCap and point cloud technology is advantageous.
  • Possession of BCIN certification or OAA Technologist license is considered beneficial.
  • Participation in award-winning architectural projects is a plus.
  • Understanding of energy-efficient, sustainable building practices is desirable.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle during working hours are required.
