Role Overview
The Appointed Person is responsible for overseeing the safe and effective management and execution of all lifting operations on project sites. This position ensures strict adherence to protocols in planning, organizing, and controlling lift operations within high-stake data centre construction environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and direct every aspect of site lifting operations, ensuring the highest safety standards are consistently met.
- Prepare detailed Lift Plans and distribute these to the relevant personnel, ensuring all lifting procedures are thoroughly documented and planned in advance.
- Define, allocate, and communicate roles, responsibilities, authority, and interfaces for all Appointed Persons (APs) involved in projects, ensuring comprehensive oversight of all lifting activities.
- Conduct formal competence assessments and written appointments for all APs under their supervision.
- Assign mentors to newly qualified or less experienced APs to support ongoing professional development.
- Provide ongoing support for APs by obtaining their feedback and addressing any concerns or challenges they encounter.
- Thoroughly brief Lift Supervisors and lift team members on the full detail and boundaries of each Lift Plan before operations commence.
- Issue Lift Plans only after proper review and approval, addressing all safety and operational considerations.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Experience managing complex lifting operations within construction or data centre environments.
- Strong ability to create, review, and implement operational lift plans.
- Demonstrated competence in assessing, appointing, and supporting operational team members.
- Commitment to upholding the highest safety standards and regulatory compliance.
