About the Role
David’s Bridal is looking for an Alterations Specialist to support fittings, sewing work, garment finishing, and customer care in store. This role reports to the Store Manager and is focused on delivering polished alterations work while creating a warm, knowledgeable, high-service experience for customers.
The position is part of a store team that supports bridal and special-occasion customers through fittings, customization, and final garment preparation. The company emphasizes strong service, attention to detail, and a customer-first mindset.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly by phone, through virtual chats, and in person, using clear communication and a helpful, solution-oriented approach.
- Use internal systems to help manage customer flow and support a consistently high-quality service experience.
- Meet service expectations by staying prepared, welcoming, responsive, and attentive to customer needs, including operational checklist tasks.
- Provide excellent service to several customers at once while helping the store deliver five-star customer satisfaction.
- Address customer concerns calmly and know when to involve leadership for support.
- Explain the value of alterations and personalization, and promote available alteration services.
- Support stylists by advising customers on gown fit and customization to help close sales.
- Keep the store environment aligned with brand standards for a smooth shopping experience.
- Follow the dress code policy and maintain a professional appearance.
- Welcome alterations customers and escort them to and from appointments.
- Check altered, steamed, and pressed garments carefully to confirm quality and pristine condition before handoff.
- Answer customer questions promptly with accurate product and service information.
- Build lasting relationships that support customer loyalty and satisfaction.
- Handle inventory-related tasks, including special order pickups and first-quality checks on merchandise.
- Ensure alterations pricing follows company standards.
- Carry out alterations work, fittings, sewing, steaming, pressing, and spot cleaning according to company standards.
- Resolve service issues quickly and in line with company guidelines.
- Support cash-wrap activities and process transactions accurately.
- Keep the alterations area clean, organized, and ready for use.
- Complete other duties assigned by store management.
Physical Requirements
This job involves regular movement throughout the store and may require standing, walking, sitting for long periods, reaching, climbing stairs, bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling, and crouching. The role also requires talking with customers, hearing, using tools and equipment, operating POS terminals, handling money, steaming garments, using computers and phones, and performing sewing and fitting work. The ability to lift or move up to 10 pounds is needed. Good close-up and distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and extended screen use are also required.
Education and Experience
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Applicants should have 1–2 years of retail experience in an apparel or specialty store setting. Prior sewing experience is required, ideally in bridal or special occasion production. Experience with computerized POS systems is considered an advantage.
