Job description
About the Role
The Air Conditioning (A/C) Technician will oversee the installation, examination, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC and refrigeration units within a hotel environment. This includes ensuring optimal operation of guest rooms, public spaces, kitchens, and service areas to maintain guest comfort, safety, and efficient energy use.
Core Responsibilities
- Conduct both preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration systems.
- Diagnose and fix faults in air conditioning systems such as chillers, FCUs, AHUs, split and package units, ventilation, and exhaust fans.
- Service refrigeration equipment including walk-in coolers, freezers, ice machines, and cold storage rooms.
- Respond promptly to guest requests concerning A/C and ventilation issues.
- Monitor HVAC system performance and suggest possible efficiency improvements.
- Replace components like filters, belts, motors, thermostats, valves, and bearings as necessary.
- Check refrigerant levels and handle leak repairs compliant with environmental regulations.
- Perform daily inspections of mechanical plant rooms and associated equipment.
- Maintain precise records for preventive maintenance and work orders via the hotel's maintenance management system.
- Support initiatives that promote energy conservation and ensure equipment runs efficiently.
- Collaborate with contractors during major maintenance or refurbishment activities.
- Keep engineering tools and equipment in safe, orderly condition.
- Adhere to hotel policy, health and safety guidelines, and fire safety protocols.
- Assist other engineering team members when needed.
- Participate in emergency maintenance and be available for on-call shifts as assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma or technical certification in HVAC, Refrigeration, Air Conditioning, or Mechanical Engineering.
- At least 2 to 3 years’ experience as an A/C Technician, ideally within a hotel or hospitality sector.
- Preferred to have valid HVAC/Refrigeration certification.
- Good working knowledge of chilled water systems, VRF/VRV, split units, FCUs, AHUs, package units, and refrigeration equipment.
- Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
- Basic computer literacy, especially with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), is an advantage.
Skills and Competencies
- Proficient troubleshooting and diagnostic skills related to HVAC systems.
- Understanding of HVAC control systems and building management systems (BMS).
- Strong grasp of preventive maintenance procedures.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 25 kilograms.
- Comfort working in tight spaces, at heights, and within hot conditions.
- Availability to work shifts, including weekends, public holidays, and emergency call-outs.
