About Timescapes

Established in New Zealand in 2017, Timescapes delivers a visual progress tracking solution tailored for intricate construction projects. Our goal is to streamline construction by enhancing shared visibility. Our platform is favored by major construction companies across Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the United States due to its ability to keep projects on schedule, validate claims, and improve communication regarding progress.

Role Overview

We are seeking a proactive expert to spearhead AI and data initiatives at Timescapes. This individual will identify pivotal business challenges amenable to agentic AI and automation solutions, developing practical implementations that enhance performance. This position carries dual primary objectives: driving AI adoption across departments and constructing a robust, unified reporting system from varied data sources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional leaders and teams to pinpoint impactful AI and automation opportunities within the company.
  • Map and analyze current workflows—including those undocumented—resolving inconsistencies before automating processes to avoid amplifying inefficiencies.
  • Develop and deploy agentic AI-based tools and automation that tangibly enhance operational workflows, ensuring sustainability by monitoring results and iterating as necessary.
  • Design and build comprehensive reporting platforms including ELT pipelines integrating data from core systems, ensuring accuracy, documentation, and scalability.
  • Enhance and unify company-wide reporting frameworks to establish a consistent and trusted performance overview.
  • Oversee relationships with vendors and contractors when external solutions outweigh internal development, managing these engagements thoroughly.
  • Lead by example as an active AI practitioner by conducting training sessions, creating actionable guides, and empowering teams to adopt AI tools widely.
  • Implement responsible AI and data governance practices encompassing privacy, security, appropriate use, and transparency regarding AI involvement.
  • Continuously explore emerging AI tools and methodologies, evaluating their relevance and applicability to a company of Timescapes' scale.
  • Maintain and support developed systems and automations to ensure their reliability over time, avoiding simple handoffs.
  • Manage operational costs of AI solutions transparently, enabling informed decision-making about their justification and sustainability.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven record of successfully delivering AI and automation projects, focusing on outcomes over titles.
  • Hands-on expertise with LLMs and agentic AI tools including workflow builders, automation platforms, and agent frameworks, with practical judgment on appropriate solution complexity.
  • Strong foundation in data engineering: expert-level SQL skills, familiarity with modern data stack components such as data warehouses, ELT tools, data modeling, and BI platforms.
  • Experience developing reporting and BI tools that are actively utilized by non-technical stakeholders, collaborating to define meaningful metrics.
  • Comfortable interfacing with commercial software systems and their APIs, including CRM, analytics, finance, and support platforms.
  • Proven capability managing external service providers and making strategic build-versus-buy decisions.
  • Solid understanding of responsible AI principles applied pragmatically, including data privacy and security.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity effectively, maintaining a comprehensive organizational perspective while tackling detailed execution and creating new protocols when necessary.

Desired Profile

  • Minimum five years’ experience in data, analytics engineering, automation, or related roles, with significant recent hands-on AI project involvement.
  • A portfolio showcasing developed automations, AI agents, data infrastructure, and reporting systems, with readiness to discuss specific contributions.
  • Experience working in dynamic SaaS or startup environments owning end-to-end outcomes.
  • Natural educator who spreads knowledge broadly, including to those initially hesitant about AI adoption.
  • Excellent communication skills, effectively collaborating across engineering, finance, sales, and beyond.

Employee Benefits

At Timescapes, our culture is defined by the collective value placed on people, product excellence, trust, and the opportunity to engage in impactful work. We deliberately cultivate this environment and seek candidates who align with this ethos. Our benefits include:
