About the Role
The Administrative Assistant II role supports the Primary Care Program at Southern Health-Santé Sud by providing comprehensive administrative assistance. The position reports to the Director Health Services and involves handling sensitive information, managing personnel records, overseeing financial and clerical tasks, coordinating office and data processes, producing and documenting materials, and facilitating communication. The role requires exercising independent judgment in setting work priorities and applying appropriate methods in unfamiliar situations, aligning with the organization's mission, vision, values, and policies.
Location and Schedule
This is a full-time temporary position based in Steinbach, Manitoba, at the Bethesda Primary Care Centre. The work schedule includes 7.75 hours per day, primarily during daytime shifts, accumulating approximately 2015 annual base hours. Employment is onsite with an expected start date of August 24, 2026, continuing indefinitely.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $23.45 to $25.95 per hour.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum two years of administrative experience within a healthcare environment.
- Completion of a recognized Administrative Assistant program or equivalent qualification.
- Proficiency in photocopier, fax, and calculator usage.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook.
- Familiarity with basic medical terminology.
- Typing speed between 35 and 40 words per minute.
- Ability to respect and promote cultural diversity in the workplace.
- For bilingual-designated roles, fluency in both official languages is mandatory.
- Maintain confidentiality of information in various formats.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license, access to a fully insured vehicle with at least $1,000,000 liability coverage.
- Demonstrated physical and mental capability to meet job demands without exposure to hazardous conditions.
Additional Conditions and Requirements
- Occasional work during evenings and weekends may be required.
- Willingness to travel to other regional facilities as assigned.
- Successful candidates must complete a Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Search, Adult Abuse and Child Abuse Registry Checks, with any associated costs borne by the applicant.
