Role Overview
This role offers leadership opportunities to oversee faculty-based academic services, ensuring seamless, high-quality delivery to students and academic leaders across all academic programs, including doctoral and sub-doctoral research. It requires managing collaborations with central Student and Scholarly Services and the School of Graduate Studies to enhance the student experience cohesively.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and provide direction to staff members.
- Implement faculty and university strategic and annual plans related to academic and student services.
- Ensure accurate advice for central Student and Scholarly Services, especially Student Hubs and Academic Services, concerning admissions, academic progress, and program completion.
- Build and sustain strong stakeholder relationships between central service divisions and faculty teams for effective collaboration.
- Develop partnerships with admissions and enrolment teams to improve outcomes, support recruitment goals, and enrich student experience.
- Lead strategic project planning and service improvements such as undergraduate health program modifications and clinical admissions enhancements.
Team and Workplace
The position collaborates closely with Faculty Student Support and Engagement, Marketing and Communications, and Student Hubs teams at Grafton Campus, alongside faculty academic leadership, playing a vital role in delivering effective academic services.
Candidate Profile
- Extensive management experience, including operational planning and execution in a large, complex organisation.
- Proven skills in team development, change management, and collaborative working.
- In-depth knowledge of customer service trends, including service design, digital platforms, and self-service models.
- Strong understanding of Te ao Māori and experience fostering cultural capability within teams.
- Familiarity with academic and student services and related university information systems.
Compensation and Benefits
The annual salary ranges from NZD 98,700 to NZD 121,900, based on qualifications and experience. The University offers a flexible work environment, 6.75% company superannuation, competitive salary packages, and five weeks of annual leave.
