About The Note
The Note is a monthly publication and digital hub dedicated to showcasing the vibrant stories, energy, and key figures within Australia's music industry, with particular emphasis on South Australian artists, venues, festivals, and cultural developments.
Role Overview
We are seeking an insightful and dynamic Writer & Content Lead to join us part-time and lead the editorial vision and production. This position requires crafting important features and interviews, collaborating with contributors, organizing the editorial schedule, and guiding content across print, online, and social media platforms. The role combines writing expertise with editorial oversight and suits someone passionate about music who is comfortable shifting between storytelling, interviews, and social media management. Responsibilities vary daily and can include conducting interviews with local to international artists, preparing copy for print publication, managing social media channels, and conducting in-person interviews which may occur outside regular hours.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of three years’ experience in journalism, content development, or editorial roles, preferably related to music, media, or the arts.
- Exceptional writing and storytelling skills, ranging from detailed long-form articles to concise, engaging copy.
- Proficient and confident in interviewing artists and industry professionals, from new talents to established figures.
- Familiar with digital tools such as Canva for design, Trello for project management, Squarespace for website maintenance, and Meta platforms for social media management.
- Strong passion for and understanding of both local and national music scenes.
Additional Details
