Job description

About BMLL

BMLL is a premier independent provider of harmonised Level 3, 2, and 1 historical data and analytics covering global equities, ETFs, futures, and US equity options. The company delivers rapid access to detailed T+1 order book data and advanced analytics that empower market participants to boost research, optimise trading strategies, and gain insightful market behaviour understanding.

Acquired in 2025 by Nordic Capital with minority stake from Optiver, BMLL is poised for accelerated growth. The workplace offers a diverse, inclusive culture, featuring hybrid work arrangements involving regular onsite days in London, weekly team lunches, and various social activities outside of business hours.

Role Overview

BMLL grants its clientele access to extensive datasets and insights via key products: BMLL Data Lab, BMLL Data Feed, and BMLL Vantage — an advanced financial data visualization platform. The company is seeking an accomplished UX Designer to steward the user experience across these software products, ensuring design consistency, superior quality and alignment with brand identity and user needs.

This pivotal design role involves ownership and enhancement of the design system and UX standards while partnering closely with product, engineering, and marketing teams. The ideal candidate will shape design strategy for a fast-growing FinTech firm serving major global financial entities. An interest in finance and familiarity with data-intensive applications will be advantageous due to the technical and complex financial subject matter.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead and continuously improve BMLL's design system and UX guidelines, promoting uniform application across Data Lab, Data Feed, Vantage, and related admin tools.
  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to develop user-friendly, high-quality designs for new product features and UI upgrades.
  • Partner with marketing to implement brand principles uniformly throughout product interfaces.
  • Execute user research and usability testing to guide informed design choices.
  • Produce wireframes and detailed prototypes to communicate design concepts effectively.
  • Contribute to product requirement sessions and establish UX standards and best practices company-wide.

Candidate Requirements

  • Minimum three years of experience in product or UX design, preferably within a B2B SaaS setting.
  • Proven experience in managing or significantly contributing to corporate design systems, UX guidelines, and information architecture.
  • Proficiency in Figma with strong hands-on skills.
  • Ability to work independently across multiple products and teams.
  • Excellent communication skills capable of explaining design decisions to varied audiences.
  • Comfortable managing priorities across different teams competing for attention.
  • Pragmatic, delivery-oriented approach balancing ideal design solutions with practical constraints.
  • Collaborative mindset with confidence to advocate user perspectives during cross-functional discussions.
  • Capability to perform promptly in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.

Preferred Skills

  • Exposure to financial markets and concepts such as equities, options, and futures.
  • Basic knowledge of web technologies like HTML and CSS.
  • Experience with Agile software development methodologies.
  • Familiarity with charting libraries or visualization tools and understanding their impact on clarity and performance.
  • Experience using Figma plugins such as Make or Claude Design.
  • Background designing for an international audience.

Employee Benefits

  • Competitive remuneration package.
  • Annual leave entitlement of 25 days plus public holidays.
  • Discretionary bonus scheme.
  • Contribution to pension scheme.
  • Private medical insurance coverage.
  • Opportunity to work remotely abroad for up to 40 business days per year.
  • Life insurance policy.
  • Childcare nursery support program.
  • Hybrid working model with two days a week in London office.
  • Yearly budget allocated for physical well-being activities.
  • Ongoing professional development with funded training and challenging projects.
  • Supportive and collaborative workplace culture.
  • Weekly team lunches and provision of free fruit, snacks, and drinks when office-based.
  • Regular team social gatherings.
  • Cycle to Work scheme available.

Inclusion and Accessibility

BMLL strongly supports diversity and inclusion and welcomes applications from all backgrounds. Reasonable adjustments for the recruitment process are offered to accommodate accessibility needs and to ensure equal opportunity for all candidates.
