About the Role
Barrick Africa Middle East Team is inviting applications for the position of Underground Shift Boss. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage underground mining crews and their operations effectively.
- Ensure full compliance with the Mines Act and all regulatory requirements.
- Maintain workplace safety and environmental standards, ensuring all procedures and standards are clearly communicated to personnel on site.
- Support staffing needs for mining and other departments by assisting with personnel sourcing and recruitment.
- Help address equipment needs for operations through identification and acquisition.
- Prioritize tasks for mine crews, assign workloads, and monitor task completion.
- Provide leadership that motivates and encourages high performance among team members.
- Maintain routine and effective communication with the Mine Manager and other supervisory personnel.
- Execute all duties in strict adherence to project safety management plans.
- Participate in accident and incident investigations, as well as in the orientation and training of new hires.
- Ensure all staff under supervision participate in safety training and comply with company safety initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of one year of experience in one or more operational roles relevant to underground mining.
- Demonstrated prior supervisory experience in underground mines, with knowledge of underground track mining methods.
- Strong organizational and communication abilities.
- Proficient in reading technical drawings and adhering to specifications.
- Capacity to build effective working relationships to meet job requirements.
- Solid safety background with a proven ability to advocate and maintain safe working environments and practices.
- Excellent English language skills, both spoken and written.
- Computer literacy, including MS Excel, Access, Word, and Outlook.
- Experience in hazard identification and risk assessment.
- Valid driving skills.
