Tooling Support Technician

Job Overview

The Tooling Support Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing high-precision moulds in a busy injection moulding environment located in Leixlip, County Kildare, Ireland. This role includes the manufacture and upkeep of jigs, fixtures, and spare components related to injection mould tools. The position reports to the Toolroom Manager and follows full-time onsite working patterns.

Key Duties

• Maintain and repair various types of moulds including multi-cavity, Hot Runner, Valve-gated, and Stack moulds.
• Create and maintain standard procedures, specifications, and documentation for each mould, ensuring all tooling meets prescribed standards.
• Assemble, fit, repair, or modify dies, gauges, jigs, and tools using both machine and hand tools.
• Provide support during initial tool trials, validations, tool builds, and tool changeovers.
• Identify improvement opportunities and actively engage in the development and execution of corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate closely with Production and Engineering departments to diagnose and resolve mould issues.
• Adhere to all company policies including quality management, financial controls, safety, and health regulations.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Preferred but not mandatory: Toolmaking qualification or qualification in related trades such as mechanical, electrical, or carpentry.
• Experience in a regulated Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) environment is essential.
• Hands-on trade experience relevant to tooling and machining.
• Proficiency operating equipment like mills, surface grinders, and lathes.
• Experience with lock out/tag out procedures and forklift operation.
• Ability to travel as required.

Working Environment

• Exposure to moving mechanical parts on a regular basis.
• Occasional work at heights, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and risk of electrical shock.
• The environment can be noisy at times.

Compensation and Benefits
