Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, refine, and sustain software modules for autonomous robotic control using the ROS2 framework, managing nodes, services, and actions.
  • Support the robotic perception system by engineering end-to-end data pipelines for data acquisition, labeling, and processing, as well as aiding in machine learning model evaluation and training.
  • Integrate AI and machine learning models into the robot's software, including model selection, customization, benchmarking, and deployment onto embedded devices.
  • Investigate the latest AI methodologies applicable to robotics, such as object detection, semantic segmentation, and environment understanding.
  • Perform precise calibration of robotic sensors, including cameras and LIDAR systems.
  • Implement and manage embedded logic and inter-device communication using protocols such as CAN, I2C, and SPI, focusing on reliability and efficiency.
  • Assess and include open-source software, SDKs, and APIs where they can improve system capabilities.
  • Design comprehensive test strategies, encompassing unit, integration, and hardware-in-the-loop testing, ensuring overall system integrity.
  • Efficiently identify software and firmware challenges, addressing fundamental causes rather than just symptoms.
  • Create and maintain tools for building, testing, logging, and remote troubleshooting.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary design and code reviews, and help develop internal documentation and engineering guidelines.
  • When needed, contribute to hands-on assembly and integration of electronic components, as well as on-site system deployments in operational settings.
  • Assist in mechanical prototyping using fabrication tools such as 3D printers and power tools.

Qualifications and Technical Skills

  • Proficient in C++17 (or newer) for building performance-driven systems.
  • Competent with Python for scripting, tooling, and managing ML workflows.
  • Capable in embedded C development.
  • Experienced in working with ROS2 and robotics simulation tools such as Gazebo.
  • Skilled in using version control systems like Git and applying CI/CD best practices (e.g., Github Actions).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow).
  • Experience with computer vision libraries (e.g., OpenCV, Ultralytics).
  • Familiar with cross-compilation for embedded targets (arm-none-eabi).
  • Background in electronics is an advantage.
