About the Role
The Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA), part of the UK Ministry of Defence, is responsible for procurement, ongoing support, and disposal of the UK's nuclear submarines. This role is critical to national and international security, maintaining the continuous at-sea nuclear deterrent and delivering complex defence programs. The position is based at His Majesty's Naval Base Clyde, Helensburgh, Scotland, and involves overseeing training related to Royal Navy nuclear submarine systems.
The Through Life Support Training Requirements Manager will lead a multidisciplinary team composed of civilian Training Designers and Royal Navy experts, collaborating with UK and US government personnel, contractors, and military staff. The role demands leadership in designing, developing, and delivering systems-based training solutions, identifying training needs, and managing strategic coordination among multiple stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the creation of new training solutions to meet identified role requirements.
- Explore and introduce new training methods and media, including technology innovations.
- Operate and manage Learning Management Systems (LMS) effectively.
- Provide detailed system analyses and management advice, integrating information into comprehensive reports.
- Evaluate and incorporate US-supplied training courseware and media.
- Develop course outlines and assist in planning and scheduling training delivery.
- Ensure quality and accuracy of all training documentation and courseware.
- Maintain compliance with Defence Systems Approach to Training standards per JSP 822 guidance.
- Endorse key training documents including Training Authority Documents (TrAD), Training Design Reviews, and Statements of Training Tasks (SoTT).
- Oversee the training pipeline and professionalisation evaluation strategy.
- Manage audits and inspections related to system training and professionalisation.
- Serve as releasing authority for all system training documentation.
- Promote continuous improvement in training quality and efficiency through innovation and quality assurance processes.
- Assist in developing Quality Processes and related documentation.

Additional Information
This is a full-time, 37-hour per week role based primarily onsite at HMNB Clyde. Hybrid or flexible working arrangements may be possible but will require frequent workplace attendance due to security restrictions. Applicants must be UK nationals due to the sensitive nature of the work.
The role includes opportunities for regular travel within the UK and internationally to naval bases, military training establishments, and industry sites.
The salary is £47,600 per annum with an additional employer pension contribution of £13,789 under the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme. Flexible working and a diverse, inclusive culture are encouraged. Relocation assistance is not provided.
