Technical Operations Manager

We seek a seasoned Technical Operations Manager based in Frankfurt to provide expert leadership in maintaining mission-critical data centre environments safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Offer strong technical direction for ongoing operations and maintenance within live data centres.
• Lead and support site-based Data Centre Leads and their teams to ensure smooth operational flow.
• Guarantee consistent delivery of essential engineering and facility services.
• Direct and critically evaluate specialist contractors and service partners to optimize performance.
• Enhance system reliability, availability, and spearhead continuous improvements across all data centre locations.
• Develop and uphold preventative maintenance strategies, operational procedures, emergency protocols, and contingency plans.
• Conduct root cause analyses after technical incidents and initiate effective corrective measures.
• Track operational key performance indicators such as downtime, maintenance efficiency, costs, and regulatory compliance.
• Maintain adherence to technical, safety, regulatory, and quality standards at all times.
• Serve as a senior escalation point resolving complex technical operational challenges.
• Contribute to the ongoing growth and strategic development of the organization's data centre operations in Germany.

Qualifications and Experience

• Proven extensive experience in data centre operations or within critical facilities environments.
• At least 10 years working within live, mission-critical settings.
• In-depth knowledge of critical electrical and mechanical infrastructure systems.
• Demonstrated leadership experience managing operational teams in data centres.
• Expert understanding of maintenance, reliability practices, incident management, and operational workflows.
• Skilled in managing specialist contractors and service providers.
• Experience using Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM), Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), and other critical operational technology platforms.
• Hands-on technical approach combined with the authority to challenge engineers, contractors, and suppliers constructively.
• Effective stakeholder engagement and excellent communication skills.
• Relevant engineering qualifications or equivalent technical expertise.
• Proficiency in German and English languages at professional working levels.
