Role Overview
We are inviting a skilled professional to join our New Zealand Fund Services team at Mercer. This position is based in either Wellington or Auckland and offers a hybrid working arrangement with flexibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the New Zealand Tax Manager in managing tax compliance for Mercer Funds, covering income tax and PIE tax adherence.
- Work collaboratively with external tax consultants, registries, and custodians to guarantee precise tax reporting and compliance.
- Examine annual income tax provisions, trust distribution statements, tax documents, and unit pricing tax accruals to ensure alignment with company policies.
- Ensure that all funds comply with current tax policies, procedures, and risk management frameworks.
- Participate in tax-related projects including new business proposals, fund restructures, and product initiatives.
Candidate Requirements
- Post-secondary qualifications in fields such as business, accounting, tax, law, commerce, or allied disciplines. Progress towards Chartered Accountant qualification is acceptable though not mandatory.
- At least 2 to 3 years of experience in tax roles following qualification; experience within financial services is an advantage but not essential.
- Comprehensive technical expertise in New Zealand tax legislation, particularly regarding unit trusts and PIE taxation.
- Strong skills in analysis, problem-solving, and meticulous attention to detail.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities to effectively liaise with multiple stakeholders.

- Demonstrable success in establishing and nurturing effective collaborative relationships across teams.
- Knowledge of tax compliance within fund accounting environments.
