This opportunity offers improved pay, a collaborative culture, and room to build your career with a business that recognises the value you bring.
In this position, you will be responsible for supporting the safe and efficient execution of planned outages on Western Power’s network. The role demands a strong safety mindset, careful planning, and clear communication with stakeholders, internal teams, and customers to reduce disruption and keep operations running smoothly.
Key duties
- Create, define, and carry out switching programs that allow safe access to the Western Power network.
- Draft and lodge eNARs for planned outages, including the identification of isolation points to limit customer impact.
- Work alongside the planning team to improve scheduling and avoid delays to projects.
- Keep customers and businesses informed about upcoming planned outages in a clear and timely way.
- Maintain high standards for safety, quality, and compliance across field activities.
Pay and work conditions
The role offers $73.54 per hour, plus overtime and weekend penalty rates. There are ongoing chances to work on projects across regional WA, along with generous site allowances and a Living Away from Home Allowance (LAFHA) of up to $355 per day when working remotely. Overtime and weekend work are available regularly to help increase earnings. Perth metro work is also available for those seeking better work-life balance. A tool-of-trade vehicle is provided, and the roster includes two rostered days off every fortnight.
What we are looking for
The ideal candidate is experienced, safety-focused, and ready to contribute positively to the team. You should bring the right qualifications, authorisations, and licences for the work, along with a proactive attitude.
Additional requirements and preferred background
- Certificate III in Distribution Overhead, Cable Jointing, or a WA Electrical Licence.
- Current Western Power Switching Authorisation.
- HV and LV switching qualifications on Western Power’s network.
- Experience with substation switching on Western Power’s network is an advantage.
- Valid driver’s licence, with HR licence preferred.
- EWP and High-Risk Work Licences such as DG, LF, CV, or above.
