The Expo 2030 Riyadh is set to be an international platform emphasizing sustainable development, innovation, and future-focused collaboration, hosting more than 40 million visitors between October 2030 to March 2031 with participation from nearly 200 countries and international organizations. Bechtel will lead infrastructure management for the 6 km² site, including early works, utilities, streets, parks, and transitioning to a mixed-use legacy post-event using international sustainability standards.

Job Role and Responsibilities

The Senior Project Manager supports leadership of the Construction Delivery Team, deputizes for senior leadership as needed, and facilitates strong client and stakeholder relationships. The role involves overseeing project delivery from planning through execution to completion, ensuring alignment with objectives, and integrating safety, quality, and environmental requirements with operational goals.

• Advise and assist delivery teams responsible for design, contractor procurement, construction supervision, ensuring compliance with specifications, schedules, safety, and regulatory codes.
• Resolve escalated complex issues using extensive industry knowledge and innovative solutions.
• Monitor contractor performance, project status, schedule adherence, cost control, and change management.
• Support continuous workflow by reviewing schedules, resource and material procurement, engineering outputs, and contractor submissions.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to secure necessary permits and licenses before work commencement and verify compliance.
• Collaborate within multifunctional teams to track project progress and performance.
• Maintain effective relationships with clients, stakeholders, and contract parties to coordinate site activities.
• Ensure all site operations comply with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
• Manage teams and contractors to meet delivery timelines and ensure smooth handover to subsequent project phases.
• Guarantee adherence to engineering, procurement, and construction plans, in compliance with local and national regulations, safety, and quality protocols.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• At least 25 years of extensive experience managing large infrastructure projects, including hands-on construction involvement.
• Minimum 10 years in project management roles and 5 years in senior leadership positions.
• Proven experience leading major infrastructure projects as part of contractors or project management consultancies.
• Comprehensive knowledge of project lifecycle phases from contracting to commissioning and public realm integration.
• Familiarity with industry codes, standards, and regulatory requirements related to large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Expertise in Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) practices, especially for infrastructure, building, testing, commissioning, and handover processes.
• Preferred experience in Saudi Arabia, Middle East, or GCC regions.
• Strong English communication skills; Arabic language ability is a plus.
