Senior Project Accountant

About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly experienced Senior Project Accountant to manage the financial aspects of large-scale infrastructure and utilities projects. The role involves overseeing contractor payment processes, cost monitoring, financial controls, asset accounting, and project cost management, ensuring all activities comply with internal governance and contract terms.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and validate contractor payment applications and associated documentation.
• Prepare payment certifications and manage payment tracking systems.
• Track and monitor project expenditures, budgets, financial commitments, and forecasts.
• Develop cost reports and deliver detailed financial analyses for stakeholders.
• Ensure adherence to financial policies and contractual obligations.
• Support fixed asset accounting and activities related to project capitalization.
• Coordinate with project teams, finance departments, and contractors on payment matters.
• Monitor pending invoices and address payment-related issues promptly.
• Assist in investment planning, cost evaluations, and financial reporting tasks.

Requirements

• Possess a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Quantity Surveying, or a relevant field.
• Have a minimum of 15 years' experience in project accounting or finance within infrastructure sectors.
• Demonstrated expertise in utilities, infrastructure, engineering, or construction project environments.
• Solid knowledge of project costing, contractor payment processing, and financial control mechanisms.
• Experience in preparing payment certificates and generating cost reports.
• Strong analytical capabilities coupled with effective communication skills.
• Proficiency in advanced Excel functions and ERP software systems.
