Role Overview
We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Designer to lead the architectural and technical aspects of spacecraft mechanical subsystems across several projects. This role involves subsystem architecture, mechanical design, structural and thermal analysis, hardware development, and cross-department collaboration. The successful candidate will tackle complex mechanical engineering challenges while guiding subsystem owners, systems engineering, manufacturing, and technical experts to develop robust, reusable, and manufacturable designs.
Responsibilities
- Define architecture and technical direction for major spacecraft mechanical subsystems across many programs.
- Conduct mechanical design, structural and thermal analyses, and hardware development.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with systems engineers, manufacturing, and technical specialists.
- Balance competing factors including performance, mass, manufacturability, reliability, schedule, and cost.
- Provide mentorship and technical leadership to influence engineering decisions through strong engineering judgment.
- Help establish engineering methodologies and build technical capabilities for spacecraft development.
Requirements
- Advanced expertise in mechanical design and subsystem architecture for spacecraft or similar high-performance applications.
- Proven ability to perform structural and thermal analysis and hardware development.
- Strong systems thinking and ability to balance multiple engineering trade-offs effectively.
- Experience leading technical efforts and mentoring engineers without direct authority.
- Excellent interdisciplinary collaboration skills across engineering, manufacturing, and technical teams.

- Competitive salary range of CAD 150,662 to CAD 175,662 annually, with total compensation based on various qualifications.
