About the Role
Universal Response Systems is seeking a seasoned Senior IT Engineer to take end-to-end ownership of its technology environment. This position is for a hands-on, well-rounded IT professional who can strengthen infrastructure, improve security, support users, and keep systems dependable as the business grows.
The role calls for broad experience across infrastructure, Microsoft cloud services, networking, cybersecurity, endpoint administration, user provisioning, vendor coordination, and day-to-day IT operations. You will be expected to assess the existing setup, close gaps, upgrade processes, and maintain an environment that is secure, documented, scalable, and aligned with business needs.
Experience: 5+ years
Employment Type: Full-Time
Department: IT / Infrastructure / Security
Work Location: Hybrid
Role Type: Senior Technical Owner
Infrastructure Review and Continuous Improvement
Review the current IT landscape across systems, networks, cloud services, security controls, devices, vendors, licenses, and operational workflows. Identify weaknesses, risks, misconfigurations, outdated components, and process inefficiencies, then recommend and implement practical improvements that enhance stability, security, speed, scalability, and cost effectiveness. Maintain detailed documentation such as network maps, asset logs, configuration records, access registers, SOPs, policies, troubleshooting references, and operating checklists.
Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 Administration
Administer Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Entra ID / Azure Active Directory, Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, and related services. Manage identities, groups, roles, permissions, licenses, mailboxes, distribution lists, shared mailboxes, and collaboration settings. Configure MFA, Conditional Access, SSO, password controls, identity protection, and access governance. Monitor cloud usage, billing, access patterns, security posture, and performance, while supporting cloud-based resources such as virtual machines, storage, backups, networking, and security settings.
Networking and Connectivity
Handle the design, setup, support, and troubleshooting of LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, routers, switches, firewalls, access points, internet circuits, and failover arrangements. Work with TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, NAT, routing, switching, VPN tunnels, firewall policies, and wireless networks. Track connectivity health, bandwidth, latency, packet loss, and jitter, and resolve issues affecting users, servers, cloud access, VoIP, call-center tools, and business applications. Liaise with ISPs and vendors for outages, upgrades, and service improvements, while maintaining topology and IP documentation.
Cybersecurity and IT Risk Management
Apply security best practices across user accounts, endpoints, email, cloud services, applications, and the network. Maintain protections such as antivirus, EDR, firewalls, phishing safeguards, web filtering, device compliance, and patch management. Watch for suspicious behavior, unauthorized access, malware, phishing attempts, policy breaches, and vulnerabilities. Support investigation, containment, remediation, and reporting for security incidents, and uphold least-privilege access across all account types. Carry out access reviews, support audits and compliance checks, and help reduce IT risk through policy and control improvements.
Onboarding and Offboarding
Own the full IT setup for new joiners by creating accounts, emails, Microsoft 365 access, application permissions, device assignments, security-group membership, and phone or VoIP access. Prepare laptops, desktops, mobile devices, headsets, VPN access, MFA, software, and user profiles in advance so employees can start smoothly. For exits, disable accounts, revoke access, reset credentials, recover devices, back up or transfer data, remove licenses, and update asset records. Ensure access is removed from Microsoft 365, Azure, VPN, applications, shared drives, VoIP systems, CRM tools, and external platforms without delay.
Endpoint and Asset Management
Administer laptops, desktops, mobiles, printers, scanners, headsets, monitors, and other IT equipment. Install, configure, update, secure, and troubleshoot Windows devices and business software. Oversee endpoint compliance, patching, encryption, antivirus/EDR, and remote support tools. Keep an accurate asset inventory covering user assignment, serial numbers, warranty status, purchase dates, licenses, device condition, and return details. Coordinate repairs, replacements, upgrades, procurement, and warranty claims, and ensure devices are properly recovered when employees leave.
Windows Server and Systems Administration
Manage Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, file shares, print services, permissions, and related systems where applicable. Administer domain users, groups, organizational units, shared folders, and policy settings. Maintain server health, updates, backups, storage, logs, and performance, and troubleshoot issues related to authentication, permissions, file access, and domain services. Support migration, cleanup, consolidation, and modernization of legacy environments when needed.
Backup, Disaster Recovery, and Business Continuity
Implement and maintain backups for critical systems, cloud data, user files, servers, and business applications. Monitor backup runs, investigate failures, and test restorations to ensure recovery readiness. Build and maintain disaster recovery procedures and business continuity plans for scenarios such as internet failures, hardware breakdowns, account compromise, data loss, and major outages. Recommend measures that reduce downtime and improve recovery speed.
IT Support and Troubleshooting
Provide practical support for day-to-day technical issues across hardware, software, user accounts, connectivity, and business applications. Diagnose complex problems efficiently, communicate clearly with users and stakeholders, and restore service with minimal disruption. Deliver guidance and support that helps the company maintain a reliable and secure IT environment.
Eligibility
Applicants should hold a B.Tech / B.E. in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Computer Science and Business System, Information Technology, or Cyber Security.
Additional Information
This position is suited to a senior IT professional who is comfortable operating across multiple areas rather than focusing on a single narrow specialization.
