Yapay Payments is creating Yapay, a conversation-driven payment platform based on an account-to-account dynamic QR network and an instant PayTo shortfall funding wallet. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior DevOps / Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join our team in Hyderabad and lead our cloud operations with a focus on AWS and Infrastructure as Code.

Job Overview

The position involves leading the design and management of our cloud infrastructure, with a focus on scalable, secure, and highly available environments. You will collaborate closely with the founding CTO and contribute decisively to building bank-grade, robust payment systems.

Core Responsibilities

• Maintain and develop Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform with modular, declarative designs and manage state across remote backends and multiple environments.
• Architect AWS cloud infrastructure across multiple accounts, including compute services such as AWS ECS Fargate and Docker multi-stage build pipelines.
• Manage and optimize database solutions using Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL with multi-AZ failover, read replicas, connection pooling, and performance tuning.
• Design and manage advanced networking components including VPCs, subnets, NAT gateways, security groups, VPC endpoints, and API Gateway routing.
• Implement security best practices including envelope encryption via AWS KMS (AES-256-GCM), rigorous AWS IAM policies enforcing least privilege, and manage secrets securely with AWS Secrets Manager.
• Ensure compliance with data standards such as PCI-DSS and Class 14 data classification through strategies like log masking and zero-plaintext storage.
• Build and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions to handle deployment, database migrations, testing, and monorepo workflows.
• Establish observability systems with CloudWatch, AWS X-Ray, and other monitoring tools like Datadog to set up metrics, alarms, and tracing, plus automate alerting for anomalies such as state-machine drifts or latency spikes.
• Design systems for financial transaction workloads with concepts like transactional outbox workers, optimistic locking, idempotency, and webhook handling for high concurrency and reliability.
• Create high availability and disaster recovery strategies ensuring self-healing infrastructures, zero-downtime deployments, and automated database backup and restore validation.
• Provide technical leadership by owning infrastructure decisions, drafting RFCs/specifications, and mentoring less-experienced engineers.
• Promote DevSecOps best practices by integrating vulnerability scans, dependency audits, and Terraform linting tools into the CI/CD workflow.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Extensive expertise in Terraform for Infrastructure as Code with complex multi-environment deployments.
• Proficiency in AWS cloud services including ECS Fargate, ECR, VPC design, Aurora PostgreSQL, and relevant security services.
• Experience securing AWS environments with advanced IAM policies and KMS-driven encryption.
• Strong knowledge of compliance requirements for handling sensitive payment data.
• Experience implementing automated CI/CD pipelines for complex enterprise applications.
• Understanding of financial systems and associated concurrency and data integrity patterns.
• Proven leadership skills in infrastructure design and team mentorship.

This role is based in Hyderabad, India. Applicants should be graduates and prepared to contribute in a full-time, onsite capacity with a focus on high-impact cloud infrastructure leadership within the payments domain.

Compensation

The annual salary for this role ranges from 1,200,000 to 2,000,000 INR.
