Job description
Overview
We seek an experienced Senior Catastrophe Research Analyst who enjoys analyzing data, identifying patterns, and translating complex scientific information into actionable business insights. This role will primarily support clients in New Zealand, Australia, and the APAC region by helping them understand their exposure to natural hazards and catastrophe risks through advanced data analytics.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze extensive and complex spatial datasets related to natural hazard risks.
- Utilize geospatial techniques and query data using SQL and other programming languages.
- Communicate findings and strategic recommendations effectively to diverse stakeholders across the region.
- Collaborate with international teams in Analytics, Risk Advisory, and Broking to deliver superior outcomes for clients.
Candidate Profile
- Degree or equivalent experience in Natural Hazards, Physical Geography, Earth Science, GIS, or a related discipline.
- Proven expertise in geospatial data analysis.
- Advanced skills in SQL with hands-on experience manipulating complex datasets; familiarity with Python or similar languages is beneficial.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify technical information for non-technical audiences.
- Strong project management and client relationship abilities.
- Experience in catastrophe modelling or within the insurance/reinsurance sectors is a plus.
