Role Overview

We are currently hiring a dependable and experienced Second-in-Charge Cleaner (2IC) for our team at Westfield Riccarton, Christchurch. This role supports the Site Supervisor by providing leadership and supervision, particularly handling responsibility during Thursdays and Fridays when the supervisor is off duty. This part-time position suits someone who thrives in a dynamic setting, pays meticulous attention to detail, and is passionate about upholding exceptional cleanliness and presentation standards.

Work Schedule and Compensation

• Monday to Wednesday: 8:00 PM to 1:30 AM
• Thursday to Friday: 9:30 PM to 3:00 AM
• Hourly wage: $24.25

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist the Site Supervisor in managing and coordinating the cleaning team.
• Lead on-site supervision duties on Thursdays and Fridays.
• Plan and allocate cleaning tasks to meet deadlines and service quality.
• Conduct routine quality inspections and ensure standards compliance.
• Deliver training and provide ongoing support to team members.
• Engage actively in cleaning operations, setting a positive example.
• Meet site performance indicators and client service expectations.
• Ensure adherence to health, safety, and company policies.
• Oversee maintenance of cleaning equipment and stock supplies.
• Respond professionally to client inquiries and feedback.
• Assist with staff rostering and provide shift coverage as needed.
• Support hiring processes, onboarding, and training of new employees.
• Address hazards or incidents with prompt and appropriate responses.
• Help manage stock orders, conduct toolbox talks, and facilitate team communications.

Candidate Profile

• Proven experience in commercial cleaning is mandatory.
• Previous roles as 2IC, team leader, supervisor, or senior cleaner are advantageous.
• Skilled in detail cleaning and operating various cleaning machines.
• Open and available to work night shifts consistently.
• Capable of managing supervisory responsibilities independently on specific days.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Strong organizational skills with effective time-management capabilities.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and operate well under pressure.
• Proficient at building positive relationships with clients and stakeholders.
• Experience mentoring and coaching team members.
• In-depth knowledge of cleaning techniques, materials, and equipment.
• Understanding of workplace health and safety guidelines.
• Familiarity with basic computer and mobile technologies.
• Experience handling rosters, procurement of supplies, and leading safety talks is a plus.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining discretion.
• Must possess valid New Zealand work rights.
