Safety Officer

Role Overview

This full-time, on-site position is based at Vedanta Lanjigarh in Jharsuguda, Odisha. The Safety Officer is responsible for overseeing workplace safety protocols, performing regular inspections, and ensuring adherence to health, safety, and security regulations as well as company policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify workplace hazards and assist in risk assessments.
• Support investigations of incidents and accidents, aiding root cause analysis and corrective action planning.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date safety records and reports.
• Deliver safety training sessions including toolbox talks, inductions, and awareness programs.
• Promote safety consciousness among staff and contractors.
• Coordinate with operations teams to implement corrective and preventive measures.
• Collaborate with management to enhance overall safety performance.
• Support emergency preparedness and actively participate in drills and response activities.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Strong knowledge of health, safety, and occupational health regulations and standards.
• Experience in accident investigation, incident reporting, and root cause analysis.
• Capability to supervise site security and safety ensuring protection of personnel and assets.
• Prior experience in conducting safety trainings and awareness initiatives.
• Diploma or degree in engineering, safety, or a related field; certifications like NEBOSH or OSHA are advantageous.
• Experience in heavy industries, manufacturing, or metal/engineering sectors, with hands-on exposure to plant safety procedures.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills with the ability to influence safe work behaviors.
• Ability to work on-site in Jharsuguda and respond effectively to safety concerns and emergencies.
