Position Overview
The Room Service Captain position at The Ritz-Carlton in Marina Bay, Singapore is aimed at ensuring an exceptional guest experience characterized by team cohesion and superior service standards. This role is responsible for supervising the operational aspects of room service, including staff coordination, equipment maintenance, and adherence to cleanliness and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee teamwork among staff to guarantee optimal service delivery and satisfaction of guest needs.
- Conduct inspections of staff grooming and attire, addressing any issues promptly.
- Manage opening and closing procedures including setup of supplies, cleaning equipment, and securing premises.
- Inspect storage facilities to ensure organized inventory management, adherence to FIFO principles, and sanitary conditions.
- Perform scheduled stock checks and procure required supplies.
- Supervise dining area availability, service quality, guest safety, and comfort.
- Initiate maintenance requests for equipment repairs and upkeep.
- Support managerial duties involving recruitment, training, scheduling, employee evaluation, disciplinary actions, coaching, and motivation.
- Serve as the initial contact for fair treatment policies, promoting positive employee relations.
- Enforce company safety, security policies, and procedures, reporting incidents and completing relevant training.
- Maintain professional appearance and confidentiality whilst protecting company assets.
- Greet guests warmly, anticipate and fulfill their service needs, assist guests with disabilities, and express genuine appreciation.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues and guests.
- Foster constructive working relationships and actively respond to employee concerns.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards and propose improvements to enhance efficiency, productivity, safety, quality, and cost effectiveness.
- Perform thorough visual inspections of information, tools, equipment, and working conditions.
- Physical activities include prolonged standing, sitting, walking, lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds, manipulating objects requiring fine motor coordination, and navigating confined or elevated areas.
- Carry out additional reasonable duties assigned by supervisors.
Candidate Qualifications
- Minimum education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- At least two years of pertinent work experience in related roles.
- A minimum of one year in supervisory capacity.
- No license or certification required.
