Role overview
The Research Assistant / Research Analyst supports research work by gathering, arranging, examining, and interpreting both quantitative and qualitative information to produce practical insights that help guide strategy, business choices, and wider organisational goals. The role involves structured research, clear analytical reporting, and maintaining reliable, accurate findings.
Core responsibilities
This position pulls data from a range of places, including industry publications, academic sources, financial documents, surveys, databases, public records, and internal systems. It then checks, organises, and maintains that information so the research remains complete, consistent, and dependable.
The role carries out quantitative and qualitative analysis to uncover trends, patterns, opportunities, risks, and other insights aligned to the research brief. It also produces research reports, literature reviews, executive summaries, presentations, dashboards, and supporting documentation that communicate results clearly to stakeholders.
In addition, the role works with cross-functional teams, researchers, business units, and management to clarify objectives, shape methodologies, support project delivery, and provide evidence-based recommendations. It may also contribute to survey creation, data collection, competitor analysis, market research, benchmarking, and performance review activities where needed.
The position keeps track of industry changes, market trends, economic shifts, regulatory updates, and emerging technologies so that outputs stay current and relevant. It also helps improve research methods, reporting standards, and data management practices to increase the quality and efficiency of research work.
Qualifications
A strong grasp of research methods, quantitative and qualitative analysis, data collection techniques, statistical ideas, business analysis, and information management is important for this role. The ability to carry out structured research and turn complex information into useful insights is essential.
Proficiency with spreadsheets, data analysis software, presentation tools, reporting platforms, and business intelligence tools is needed. Experience with statistical packages, survey tools, database systems, and data visualisation software will be an advantage.
The role also calls for strong analytical thinking, critical reasoning, and problem-solving ability, along with the capacity to assess information, spot trends, verify findings, and build evidence-based recommendations.
Knowledge of literature review methods, survey design, market research, competitor analysis, benchmarking, forecasting, data validation, and research documentation standards is valuable.
Excellent written and spoken communication skills are required to prepare professional research reports, executive summaries, presentations, and technical documents for both technical and non-technical audiences.
