About the Role
Ventia invites you to join as a Range Operator supporting Australia’s Defence community at the Bindoon Training Area. This role involves hands-on work outdoors ensuring the safe and efficient functioning of the Training Area Range. Responsibilities include preparing and setting up ranges for operations, maintaining live-fire target systems for optimal performance, supporting health, safety, and environmental (HSE) inspections, and contributing to land management.
The role also places you in frontline bushfire response efforts to protect people, property, and the environment. Activities include manufacturing and repairing targets, adhering strictly to Range Standing Orders, and embodying company values and safety protocols.
Compensation and Benefits
- Hourly pay ranging from $30.00 to $33.43, dependent on experience, plus applicable allowances
- Work hours primarily Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm, with ample overtime available
- Use of a work vehicle provided and pool vehicles available onsite as necessary

Candidate Profile
- Experience in groundskeeping, land management, or Defence-related roles is beneficial
- Qualifications in bush firefighting and First Aid are advantageous
- Basic computer skills, particularly familiarity with Microsoft Office
- Aptitude for using various tools and equipment critical to range operations
- Competency in map reading and vehicle navigation
- Strong dedication to teamwork, integrity, and ongoing improvement
