Overview
United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC) is a leading global semiconductor foundry with over four decades of expertise driving innovation in AI, automotive, consumer electronics, connectivity, and IoT sectors. Headquartered in Taiwan with operations in Singapore since 2004, UMC is expanding its fabrication facilities and strengthening Singapore as a semiconductor innovation hub. We are seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer to join our team and contribute to quality management and process improvements within our fabs.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate fab process and recipe modification reports to verify that risks are addressed and internal procedures are adhered to.
- Engage with customers on Product Change Notices (PCN) to ensure full satisfaction of customer requirements.
- Review FMEA and control plan documentation ensuring compliance with internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and adherence to AIAG standards.
- Lead or contribute to projects aimed at enhancing productivity, refining daily operations, and improving quality systems.
- Proactively manage fab abnormalities and customer issues, including fault investigations and handling special requests independently.
- Participate in additional duties as assigned by management, such as supporting audits by second and third parties, coordinating cross-site activities, and mentoring junior staff.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering.
- A minimum of two years’ experience in wafer foundry, backend IC packaging, process integration, or PCN quality roles.
- Strong communication and negotiation capabilities.
- Familiarity with AIAG-VDA FMEA methodology and control plans is advantageous.
