About the Role
Our client is a well-established, purpose-driven not-for-profit organisation dedicated to fostering an inclusive society. Their Social Enterprise division creates meaningful employment opportunities for individuals facing employment barriers through sustainable resource recovery operations.
They are seeking a seasoned and capable Manager to oversee their Queensland-wide operations. Reporting to a senior executive, this role is responsible for people leadership, operational excellence including safety and compliance, contract management, asset oversight, partnerships, and growth strategy across multiple transfer stations, reuse shops, and upcoming business initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a high-performing operational team.
- Manage and be accountable for Queensland-wide operational performance.
- Adopt a hybrid working arrangement involving frequent travel across all Queensland sites and occasional interstate journeys.
- Coach Contract Managers and cultivate emerging leaders within the team.
- Standardize operations across multiple sites for consistency.
- Control financial outcomes, budgets, contracts, safety, compliance, assets, and operational risks.
- Establish and maintain trusted partnerships with local councils, government agencies, customers, industry groups, and collaborators.
- Identify and promote new business prospects to support portfolio expansion and diversification.
- Supervise the launching of new sites, operational transitions, and enhancement projects.
- Promote physical and psychological safety, uphold quality, information security, and customer service standards across a workforce of over 100 employees.
- Connect Queensland operations with the National organisation to align values and foster joint growth opportunities.
- Exemplify empathetic leadership by understanding individual employee needs and supporting their personal development.
Qualifications and Experience
- Proven success in mentoring managers and building inclusive, accountable teams.
- Experience leading complex, geographically distributed operations.
- Strong commercial acumen with a history of enhancing financial, contract, and operational outcomes.
- Demonstrated business development skills and ability to maintain proactive stakeholder relationships.
- Resilience and sound judgement to guide frontline operations through change and growth.
- High emotional intelligence and resilience to effectively manage a diverse workforce.
- Possession of a valid Queensland driver’s licence and capacity to travel as required.
- Background in social enterprise, non-profits, waste management, recycling or resource recovery is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Experience in logistics, third-party logistics, warehousing, infrastructure, industrial services, or similar operational sectors is welcome.
