Purchasing Manager

Job Overview

The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for formulating and executing effective procurement strategies to guarantee the timely acquisition of high-quality Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) at competitive prices. This role emphasizes supplier relationship management, cost optimization, inventory forecasting, and fostering strong connections with manufacturers, importers, and distributors to facilitate the smooth operation of Gomla Hub's wholesale functions.

Industry Requirements

Candidates must possess proven procurement experience in FMCG wholesale, distribution, import/export, or trading sectors where the key role is purchasing products from manufacturers and suppliers for resale to supermarkets, grocery stores, wholesalers, and retailers.

Key Duties

• Design and implement purchasing strategies that ensure steady product availability while maximizing profitability and reducing costs.
• Engage in sourcing and negotiation with manufacturers, importers, distributors, and FMCG vendors to secure favorable commercial terms.
• Discover and onboard new suppliers to build long-lasting strategic partnerships.
• Negotiate pricing, payment conditions, rebates, promotional support, and contracts for supply.
• Keep abreast of market trends, product accessibility, competitor pricing, and supply chain changes.
• Cultivate strong relationships with critical suppliers to maintain uninterrupted supply lines.
• Assess supplier performance focusing on price, quality, service reliability, and delivery punctuality.
• Collaborate closely with Sales, Warehouse, and Finance departments to improve inventory planning and maintain stock levels.
• Monitor stock quantities and anticipate purchasing needs to prevent shortages or surplus inventory.
• Manage timely processing of purchase orders and liaise with suppliers for delivery follow-ups.
• Analyze procurement reports and evaluate purchasing effectiveness for management review.
• Ensure adherence to corporate purchasing policies and procedures, identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising product standards or service.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Logistics, or a closely related field.
• Additional professional certifications in Procurement or Supply Chain Management are advantageous.
• At least five years of experience in roles such as Purchasing Manager, Procurement Manager, or Senior Buyer, specifically within the FMCG sector.
• Substantial experience in procuring FMCG products from manufacturers, principals, importers, distributors, and wholesale suppliers.
• Solid expertise in supplier negotiations, purchasing planning, and inventory control.
• Demonstrated network of suppliers in the UAE FMCG market is highly preferred.
• Experience working with wholesale distribution businesses is an asset.

Additional Requirements

• Possession of a valid UAE driving license is mandatory.
• Owning a vehicle is preferred for travel purposes.
• Willingness to travel within the UAE for meetings and negotiations with suppliers.
• Strong bargaining and analytical capabilities are required.
• Excellent commercial insight and business understanding are essential.
