Purchase Specialist

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Purchase Specialist to manage a vital segment of purchasing within our high-volume manufacturing facility located in Wilmington, Ohio. This position involves more than just processing purchase orders; you will be the key driver ensuring the acquisition of components and materials essential for keeping production lines operational. Your work will directly contribute to the delivery of life-saving equipment used by first responders worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

• Take full responsibility for purchasing a specific range of complex, durable manufactured parts and materials.
• Develop and maintain effective, accountable partnerships with suppliers to secure competitive pricing, track delivery schedules, and address any shortages promptly.
• Work closely with production, scheduling, and quality assurance teams to align material acquisition with manufacturing needs.
• Serve as the primary liaison between suppliers and internal quality control to investigate and resolve instances of non-conforming products, leading corrective measures.
• Adjust supplier lead times, order sizes, and safety stock levels proactively to ensure continual supply while managing inventory costs efficiently.

Requirements

• Minimum of 8 to 10 years of hands-on experience in purchasing.
• Solid background in durable goods manufacturing with a thorough understanding of parts, production needs, and supplier management.
• Strong communication skills and resilience to manage challenging vendor discussions and secure essential commitments.
• Proven employment stability and a commitment to cultivating a long-term career with our organization.
• Flexibility to learn and use new ERP systems and operate effectively within an FDA-regulated, ISO-certified environment.
