Role Overview
The Project Manager will oversee multiple construction projects, managing all phases from planning through successful completion. This role involves coordinating workforce, equipment, and contractors efficiently and exercising independent judgment under departmental supervision, with performance evaluated through outcomes and feedback.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate projects across Orange County departments from design to delivery phases.
- Administer project management tasks including consultant procurement, contract negotiations, reporting, and monitoring.
- Contribute to project planning, budgeting, cost estimation, and expenditure tracking along with scheduling.
- Supervise construction activities to ensure quality and progress, producing observation reports.
- Manage technical aspects of projects by assessing needs and developing specifications and plans.
- Execute quality control measures using specified inspection and testing equipment.
- Conduct research on historical data to aid project planning.
- Maintain effective document control for project communications and records.
- Provide leadership and guidance to assistant project managers and relevant personnel.
- Prepare and assist in delivering presentations on project proposals and status updates to boards, agencies, or public groups.
- Engage with citizens and attend public meetings concerning projects, handling media interactions if required.
- Perform any related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution plus five years of relevant experience are required. Equivalent experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Experience
- Background in event management, strategic planning, or project management.
- Experience managing large event venue operations, especially convention centers.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary range is hourly between $45.57 and $59.24, exempt status with placement depending on education and experience.
