Job Summary
The Site Project Manager will oversee construction work at the project location, ensuring that all activities are carried out within the approved scope, timeline, budget, and quality requirements. The position requires close coordination with clients, consultants, contractors, government bodies, and internal teams, along with strict attention to safety and technical compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and control all construction-related work at the site.
- Create detailed schedules, track progress, and ensure project milestones are achieved on time.
- Coordinate smoothly with design, procurement, and execution teams.
- Supervise daily site operations and oversee engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, and labour.
- Use manpower, equipment, and materials effectively to avoid delays and waste.
- Identify and resolve technical or operational issues at the site.
- Verify that work follows approved drawings, specifications, and project standards.
- Apply QA/QC processes and coordinate inspections, testing, and quality records.
- Ensure adherence to applicable IS Codes and other required standards.
- Implement HSE policies and promote safe working practices across the site.
- Carry out regular safety checks, toolbox talks, and PPE compliance monitoring.
- Investigate incidents and support corrective and preventive actions.
- Serve as the main site-level contact for clients and other stakeholders.
- Participate in review meetings with clients and consultants, and support approvals and inspections with government authorities.
- Maintain strong working relationships with all project stakeholders.
- Track spending against the approved budget and identify opportunities to control costs.
- Reduce material wastage and improve resource efficiency without affecting quality.
- Check contractor bills and verify measurements of work done.
- Coordinate the purchase and delivery of construction materials and equipment.
- Monitor inventory and confirm that materials meet quality requirements before use.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress updates.
- Maintain site logs, inspection files, work records, and contractual/statutory documentation.
- Monitor risks, anticipate delays, and recommend practical corrective measures.
- Lead, guide, and motivate site engineers and supervisors.
- Support staff development through feedback, reviews, training, and effective communication.
- Maintain discipline, teamwork, and productivity at the project site.
Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (B.E./B.Tech) is required.
- A Master's degree is preferred, though not mandatory.
- PMP or an equivalent project management certification will be an added advantage.
- The role calls for 8 to 15 years of experience in civil construction projects.
- At least 5 years of independent site project management experience is required.
- Experience in roads, buildings, irrigation, industrial, or infrastructure projects is preferred.
Technical and Professional Skills
- Strong project planning and scheduling capability using tools such as Primavera P6 or MS Project.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Experience in quantity surveying and billing.
- Understanding of contract administration and construction methods.
- Practical knowledge of QA/QC procedures and HSE standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and conflict-resolution abilities.
- Good analytical thinking, time management, and decision-making skills.
Performance Expectations
- Projects should be completed on schedule.
- Expenditure must remain aligned with the approved budget.
- Work quality must meet required standards with minimal rework.
- Safety performance should be strong, with no major incidents.
- Client satisfaction and efficient resource use are key priorities.

Working Conditions
This is a full-time, site-based role. The selected candidate should be prepared to travel and work at remote project locations, and must be comfortable working under strict deadlines and in changing weather conditions.
