Program Engagement Officer

About the Role

Join the Department of Transport and Main Roads in Rockhampton, Queensland, as a Program Engagement Officer to facilitate effective community, stakeholder, and media relations within major transport projects. This position supports the Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Program (QTRIP) across the Fitzroy District, playing a key role in promoting transparent communication and engagement between the department, local communities, and relevant stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Facilitate and support stakeholder and community engagement initiatives for transport programs and projects.
• Prepare thoroughly researched ministerial, executive, and district correspondence, including briefings and reports.
• Assist in media and issues management by drafting responses and monitoring media coverage.
• Create and manage communication materials across various channels including print, digital, and online.
• Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal teams, contractors, community representatives, and other stakeholders.
• Ensure that all communication and engagement activities adhere to governance, branding, record management, and policy standards.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is an articulate communicator capable of tailoring messages for diverse audiences and building productive working relationships. Collaborative by nature, you possess strong analytical skills and can produce quality written content. An understanding of governance and integrity principles within the public sector is essential, and prior experience in stakeholder engagement, communications, media, public affairs, or government is highly valued, though transferable skills will be considered.
