Professional Head – Train Operations (Freight & Passenger)

Role Overview

The Professional Head of Train Operations is responsible for spearheading the development and launch of both freight and forthcoming passenger rail services for the Company. This leadership role entails creating the operational framework, procedures, and readiness strategies to guarantee safe, dependable, and efficient rail services.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the Technical Authority on all matters related to train operations.
• Establish operational principles, driver management systems, and standards for operations and performance monitoring.
• Define competence management criteria and contribute to the Company Operations Safety Case, Rule Book, and regulatory approval procedures.
• Lead the recruitment and deployment of the train operations workforce, including Train Drivers.
• Ensure workforce readiness for Testing & Commissioning, trial runs, and service commencement.
• Oversee operational readiness activities in line with the Operational Readiness Plan ahead of commercial launch.

Required Competencies

• Extensive experience in managing freight and passenger train operations.
• Expertise in developing and implementing operational procedures and performance strategies.
• Strong knowledge of safety cases, regulatory compliance, and rule book formulation.
• Proven leadership in workforce mobilisation and training.
