Job Overview

The Plant Manager leads all manufacturing operations within the Business Unit’s Production Departments, while also supporting service activities such as quality control, safety oversight, warehousing, product and material testing, maintenance, freight, and delivery. This leadership role ensures that production schedules and plans are followed meticulously to efficiently manufacture high-quality products on time, while maximizing profitability.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee, guide, and motivate department supervisors in their roles and responsibilities.
Advise on overtime usage to meet production delivery deadlines.
Maintain efficient operations across all production departments.
Ensure all manufacturing machinery is properly maintained to prevent disruptions to production.
Make recommendations for new equipment and procedural enhancements to improve production.
Manage purchasing of necessary supplies and services for manufacturing operations.
Conduct regular production meetings with supervisors to align on operations.
Organize or lead plant visits by customer representatives for quality approvals.
Enforce company policies, procedures, and shop rules, suggesting improvements as needed.
Provide supervisors with guidance to ensure accurate timekeeping.
Promote best housekeeping practices to maintain a clean, healthy, and safe work environment for employees and customers.
Collaborate with other department heads on customer service, production planning, purchasing, accounting, and finance as required.
Oversee maintenance of buildings, grounds, and parking areas; keep records of repairs.
Develop budgets and propose both short-term and long-term strategic goals.
Stay informed about technological advancements in the graphics arts manufacturing sector.
Attend industry trade shows when possible and participate in relevant industry and community activities.
Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

Minimum 5 years management experience within the print industry is preferred.
Strong knowledge of business and management principles such as budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation, and human resource management.
Familiarity with standard print industry equipment and technical processes.
Understanding of safety standards, quality control, productivity metrics, demand creation, inventory management, and stewardship.
Proficient with computer systems.
Demonstrated ability to create accountability and lead by example.
Excellent team-building, decision-making, and people management skills.
Able to encourage growth and development among team members.
Effective communication skills across all organizational levels.
Capable of meeting the physical demands of the role, with reasonable accommodations as needed.

Work Environment

This is a full-time role requiring occasional schedule flexibility for urgent tasks.
Work is conducted in a climate-controlled production facility.
Exposure to manufacturing machinery noise and heated equipment may occur.
