Role Overview
This position is essential in delivering a smooth and welcoming experience for patients, staff, and referral sources by managing front office tasks effectively. The role requires prior experience in front desk or reception work paired with strong communication capabilities and computer literacy.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome and assist patients as they arrive, provide wait time information, and address questions at the reception area.
- Manage patient intake by verifying and updating demographic and insurance data during check-in, including handling walk-in registrations.
- Process patient payments at reception, covering deductibles, copays, and co-insurance amounts.
- Coordinate scheduling of follow-up visits such as cast and measure appointments, delivery sessions, and prosthetic care planning.
- Act as a liaison for clinic services by informing patients about experience programs, support groups, and available resources.
- Support administrative workflows through collaboration with the Revenue Cycle Management team to obtain required patient information.
- Maintain complete and accurate electronic health record documentation for all patients.
Qualifications and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent education/experience combination is mandatory.
- Preferably be a strong fit according to the Talent Sorter assessment, which will be administered during the hiring process.
- Less than one year of experience in customer service, administrative support, or related roles is required.
- Experience in a receptionist role or familiarity with medical front office procedures is favorable.
- Possession of, or qualification to obtain, a valid driver's license compliant with Hanger’s Motor Vehicle Safety standards is necessary.
Preferred Skills and Attributes
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal (including telephone), and written communication skills.
- Typing speed of at least 30 words per minute with accuracy.
- Ability to assist individuals with disabilities respectfully and effectively.
- Understanding of the Alpha filing system and familiarity with medical reimbursement and terminology is preferred.
- Proficient with Windows-based computer software, email, and typical office machinery such as fax, calculator, postage meter, and copier.
