Job description
Role Overview
Freedom Network Services seeks a skilled Operational Estimator to join our team in Scotland on a permanent basis. This role plays a critical part in compiling detailed and accurate estimates for projects linked to the SSE LCD Contract and other existing or forthcoming SSE/SPEN Frameworks. The successful candidate will spearhead the surveying and pricing of new connection projects, ensuring outputs are timely and tailored to individual project requirements.
Key Duties
- Prepare quotations based on provided specifications and drawings within stipulated deadlines.
- Perform on-site surveys and assessments to identify risks, problems, and possible financial impacts.
- Evaluate different options or alternatives to optimize estimation outcomes.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of documents and engineering specifications related to SSEN/SPEN and third parties.
- Coordinate with procurement and engage subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive quotes.
- Generate formal quotation documents.
- Collaborate closely with operational teams.
- Attend project handover meetings to clarify project scope, estimates, and assumptions.
Candidate Profile
- In-depth understanding of underground and overhead EHV, HV, and LV switchgear, including installations, cabling, conductors, terminations, and metering systems.
- Prior experience in estimating or project delivery involving diverse DNO/IDNO/ICP connection projects.
- Formal education in Electrical or Power Engineering or closely related fields.
- Proven ability to offer technical solutions and cost estimations within electrical and civil engineering contexts.
- Valid full driving license.
- Familiarity with Distribution Network Operator (DNO) procurement processes.
