Role overview
The Operating Executive Director leads the organization’s daily business operations and ensures that teams, processes, budgets, and systems work together efficiently. This senior leadership position is focused on improving productivity, profitability, and long-term business performance while keeping operational execution aligned with strategic goals.
What you will do
- Direct the day-to-day running of operations across departments and business units.
- Create and roll out operating policies, procedures, and strategies that support company objectives.
- Find ways to improve efficiency, output, and cost control across the business.
- Track KPIs and other operating metrics to measure progress toward targets.
- Work with executive leaders to shape and execute strategic initiatives.
- Handle operational budgets, forecasts, and resource planning to improve overall performance.
- Make sure company policies, industry rules, and quality expectations are followed.
- Identify operational risks and put mitigation plans in place to protect business continuity.
- Lead change efforts and process improvement initiatives across the organization.
- Coordinate teams from different functions to ensure smooth execution of work.
- Oversee workforce planning, employee development, and performance management in operational teams.
- Assess and introduce technology solutions that strengthen operational efficiency.
- Maintain strong working relationships with clients, vendors, partners, and other stakeholders.
- Prepare operational updates and present performance reports to executive leadership and the board.

Qualifications and experience
- A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Management, Finance, Engineering, or a related discipline is required; an MBA is preferred.
- 8 to 15 years of progressive experience in operations management, including senior leadership responsibilities.
- Demonstrated success in leading large operational teams and cross-functional initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of business operations, process improvement, and organizational development.
- Hands-on experience with budgeting, financial analysis, and performance tracking.
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and decision-making abilities.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a high-pressure business setting.
Preferred strengths
- Background in strategic planning and organizational transformation.
- Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, Agile, or similar operational excellence methods.
- Strong capability in project management and change management.
- Experience using enterprise systems and automating business processes.
