As a Nurse on board, you'll provide medical care to guests and crew, reporting to the Chief Physician (shore-based) and the Charge Nurse on the ship.
Responsibilities
- Deliver inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and ICU care to guests and crew members of all ages.
- Maintain and inspect all medical equipment as advised by the Charge Nurse; coordinate supply orders and repair needs.
- Train the Emergency Stretcher Team and participate in health education initiatives onboard alongside medical staff.
- Triage emergency calls, assess patients on scene, deliver initial treatment, and transfer to the ship's medical center for further care.
- Ensure strict confidentiality of medical information at all times.
- Support crew immunization programs and perform various technical and administrative tasks to ensure safe medical center operations under Charge Nurse supervision.
- Participate in equipment checks, medication and inventory management, drills, audits, inspections, and training of other crew members.
- Engage in continuous clinical skills training and sustainment, including rotational overnight on-call duties as first responder.
- Work closely with shore-side leadership and medical teams to ensure quality healthcare delivery.
Requirements
- Possess a nursing degree from a recognized institution in an STCW-approved country.
- Hold an active nursing license authorized by an accredited agency in a country recognized under STCW standards.
- Have at least 2 years of recent hands-on nursing experience, with a minimum of 18 months in high-acuity areas such as Emergency Medicine, Trauma Care, or Critical Care.
- Maintain valid Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications prior to embarkation and throughout the contract duration.
- Be well-versed in emergency triage procedures and critical care protocols.
- Experience performing diagnostic tests including X-rays and laboratory work.
- Proficient digital skills, including MS Office and electronic health record systems.
- Ability to sustain clinical competence in Emergency, ICU, or CCU care during standby or breaks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
- Familiarity with Sea Care and Disney Cruise Line Electronic Medical Record systems.
- Previous experience in maritime medical care is advantageous.

This position is shipboard-based.

- Candidates must be enthusiastic about a maritime career and prepared to live and work onboard a Disney Cruise Line vessel.
- Applicants should be willing to undertake safety roles, emergency responsibilities per the ship's Assembly Plan, and uphold the Safety Management System requirements.
- Working in a multicultural environment with strict rules and regulations is expected and appreciated.
- A valid passport and C1/D Seaman's visa are necessary (support documentation provided by Disney Cruise Line).
- Successful completion of pre-employment medical screening and criminal background check is mandatory.
- Approved work shoes must be brought on board.
- Disney Cruise Line maintains a drug-free workplace; all new hires will undergo drug and alcohol testing during the first week onboard and randomly throughout the contract. Failure to comply results in immediate termination.
