Role Overview

The position of News Editor is a full-time remote role responsible for managing the daily news operations. This includes commissioning, reviewing, and editing articles and multimedia content to ensure high editorial standards and consistency. The editor shapes story angles, verifies facts, and collaborates with reporters and fellow editors to highlight crucial issues such as politics and governance. Responsibilities also encompass managing publishing timelines, tracking breaking news and social media trends, and innovating storytelling methods tailored for digital consumers while working in a distributed team environment.

Qualifications and Skills

• Proven expertise in news writing and journalism producing balanced and precise reports.
• Ability to write clearly and succinctly for digital platforms on topics of public concern.
• Strong editorial skills including revising content for coherence, clarity, tone, and compliance with editorial guidelines.
• Experience with digital media tools such as social media, CMS, and analytics platforms.
• Background in newsroom or digital media environments, preferably focused on politics, governance, or public affairs.
• Meticulous fact-checking, research skills, and commitment to ethical journalism.
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral, facilitating collaboration across different time zones.
• Degree or equivalent experience in Journalism, Communications, Media Studies, or related disciplines is favorable.
