Overview

Join our Quality team to advance innovative medical technologies by ensuring rigorous standards across every phase of development. As a Microbiologist I, you will leverage your expertise and enthusiasm for solving scientific challenges to support product lifecycle decisions that ultimately improve patient outcomes worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and conduct studies to validate sterilization processes, microbiological and environmental monitoring protocols, maintaining compliance with standards.
  • Implement microbiological testing methods for investigations, organism isolation, and identification, guided by internal and external regulations.
  • Develop and validate laboratory equipment and testing procedures.
  • Collect and manage samples needed for various experimental studies.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to prepare protocols, documentation, and reports.
  • Perform corrective and preventative action (CAPA) testing within the laboratory setting.
  • Set operational parameters on specialized laboratory instruments, supporting quality control of raw materials through to final product release testing.
  • Engage in continuous process improvement initiatives such as BEST and Lean, recommending enhancements for management consideration.
  • Analyze data trends and formulate qualification strategies for new or modified medical devices and processes.
  • Mentor and guide junior team members, providing evaluation and feedback on procedures and techniques.
  • Fulfill additional duties assigned by leadership.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Microbiology.
  • Preferably at least one year of experience working in a microbiology lab environment.

Desirable Skills and Attributes

  • Strong written and oral communication skills coupled with interpersonal effectiveness.
  • Analytical problem-solving capabilities.
  • Familiarity with Edwards corporate policies and microbiology-related procedures.
  • Solid understanding of microbiology principles, including sterilization, final product release testing, and environmental monitoring.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Documentation Practices (GDP) within medical device contexts.
  • Professionalism in engaging with colleagues at all organizational levels.
  • Commitment to safety protocols, environmental health, and pollution prevention within the workplace.
  • Capability to work independently on project components with supervision focused on validation and accuracy.
