Overview
This opportunity involves a role for a Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) Engineer based in Germany working remotely. The position centers on supporting the technical evaluation and delivery of advanced AI-focused data center infrastructure projects. It offers a chance to engage with both mechanical and electrical engineering disciplines in a mission-critical environment and collaborate with experienced professionals to ensure successful project execution.
Responsibilities
- Conduct mechanical and electrical due diligence for potential sites, including colocation and custom build-to-suit projects.
- Prepare technical calculations, compare equipment options, and develop engineering summaries to support project risk assessments and decision-making.
- Evaluate cooling solutions such as chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, liquid cooling, and power distribution systems including switchgear, UPS, and generators based on site conditions and capacity needs.
- Contribute to critical Go/No-Go assessments by compiling necessary documentation and technical analyses.
- Monitor equipment availability, vendor limitations, technical assumptions, and cost impacts that influence project schedules.
- Assist in establishing and maintaining technical standards, checklists, templates, and evaluation procedures.
- Document design assumptions, equipment specifications, and readiness checkpoints prior to project handoff.
- Collaborate with consulting engineers, vendors, and internal teams to collect data and ensure alignment during project development.
Requirements
- Between 2 to 5 years of professional experience in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, MEP design, or mission-critical infrastructure systems.
- Experience or exposure to both mechanical and electrical engineering aspects within data center or similar critical infrastructure operations is preferred.
- Familiarity with cooling technologies (chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, liquid cooling) and power equipment (switchgear, UPS, generators).
- Competency in capacity calculations, technical solution comparisons, and preparation of engineering documentation.
- Understanding of data center infrastructure principles, equipment selection methodologies, and feasibility assessments.
- Knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS) or Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) controls and commissioning processes is advantageous.
- Effective communication skills to work collaboratively with engineers, consultants, suppliers, and business teams.
- A bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Progress towards or attainment of Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or professional engineering credentials is favorable.
