Position Overview

This role is offered on behalf of a partner company seeking a Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) Engineer based in Ireland. It presents an exciting opportunity to engage in the development of cutting-edge AI infrastructure by assisting with the technical assessment and delivery of large-scale data center projects.

Job Responsibilities

Support both mechanical and electrical engineering evaluations and due diligence for potential sites, colocation facilities, and custom build projects.
Conduct technical calculations, compare equipment options, and prepare engineering summaries that inform risk evaluations and project choices.
Evaluate cooling systems—including chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, and liquid cooling options—as well as power distribution elements such as switchgear, UPS systems, and generators in relation to site conditions and capacity needs.
Contribute to decisions on project viability by preparing comprehensive documentation for key milestones.
Monitor details such as equipment availability, vendor limitations, technical assumptions, and budget impacts influencing project schedules.
Assist in developing and maintaining technical standards, checklists, templates, and evaluation procedures.
Document design assumptions, equipment specifications, and readiness benchmarks before project transition phases.
Collaborate with consulting engineers, vendors, and internal teams to collect information and ensure consistent alignment during project development.

Candidate Requirements

Possess 2 to 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, MEP design, or mission-critical systems.
Preferably have experience spanning both mechanical and electrical disciplines, especially related to data centers or critical infrastructure.
Understand cooling solutions such as chillers and CRAH/CRAC, liquid cooling technology, and power distribution methods including switchgear, UPS, and generator systems.
Capable of performing capacity calculations, analyzing and comparing technical alternatives, and generating precise engineering documents.
Familiar with data center infrastructure fundamentals, equipment selection processes, and technical feasibility studies.
Knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS), Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS), and commissioning practices is an advantage.
Excellent communication skills enabling efficient collaboration with engineers, consultants, vendors, and business units.
Hold a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field—or have equivalent practical experience.
Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or progression toward professional engineering registration is considered beneficial.
