Role Overview
This position involves designing and defining manufacturing processes, creating process flows and layouts, and ensuring design for manufacturability (DFM). Manufacturing Engineers partner with diverse teams to develop and implement processes that accommodate the needs of all stakeholders, facilitating smooth vehicle design evolutions from concept to full-scale production.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Design Engineering to integrate DFM principles early in project stages.
- Design production processes forming the foundation of high-volume manufacturing lines focused on exceptional vehicle dimensional quality.
- Lead tooling design and development aligned with process plans and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) strategies.
- Work closely with external partners to approve tooling and deliver final product components.
- Participate in initial project planning including scheduling, solicitation of quotations, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and safety risk assessments.
- Guide process and equipment introductions during prototype builds, continuously identifying improvement opportunities.
- Conduct line design reviews focusing on robotic and tooling simulations, cycle timing, and line layout with a goal of optimizing engineering performance.
- Manage installation, commissioning, and production ramp-up of high-volume lines while coordinating with vendors to meet timing and budget goals.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to enhance safety, quality, and production efficiency metrics during line ramp-up.
- Revise existing line layouts, processes, and jigs to boost material flow, minimize waste, and improve ergonomics following lean manufacturing techniques.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proficiency with CAD tools such as Catia and SolidWorks.
- Experience with Process Simulate software is preferred.
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive salary with a comprehensive benefits package available from day one of employment.
- Medical plans including options with zero payroll deductions.

- Short-term and long-term disability coverage (subject to a 90-day waiting period).
- Employee assistance programs for wellness.
- Paid sick leave, vacation, holidays, and flexible time arrangements.
- Support resources for childcare and parenting, including backup care.
- Optional voluntary insurance benefits including critical illness, hospital, accident, legal support, and pet insurance.
- Programs for weight loss and tobacco cessation.
- Special initiatives like Tesla Babies program and commuter benefits.
- Employee discounts and additional perks.
