Lead DevOps / Platform Engineer (AWS, Terraform, Infrastructure as Code)

About the Role

As the Lead Platform Engineer, you will take full ownership of the platform infrastructure, covering everything from defining Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) foundations through to managing day-to-day production operations. This position emphasizes engineering rigor over traditional operations, requiring building IaC with meticulous practices such as test-driven development, peer reviews, and continuous integration and deployment. Reporting directly to the Head of Engineering, you will support and partner with development teams as your primary internal customers.

Responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end platform infrastructure from IaC foundations to production operations.
• Create reusable and generic Terraform modules to be leveraged by microservices teams.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines specifically for IaC deployments and changes.
• Provide guidance to developers in configuring and customizing Terraform blueprints within defined guardrails.
• Champion security best practices including least-privilege access, zero-trust principles, and automated certificate and key rotation.
• Design autoscaling strategies and capacity plans based on real usage metrics.
• Ensure pure Infrastructure-as-Code practices by preventing manual infrastructure changes, detecting drift early via policy-as-code, and enforcing plan reviews before application.
• Plan and execute production changes with runbooks that include tested rollback procedures and conduct incident postmortems to implement continuous improvements.

Requirements

• Between 5 to 10 years of experience in platform delivery with at least 5 years focusing deeply on AWS services such as ECR, ECS Fargate, DynamoDB, MSK/Kafka, Aurora Serverless, SNS, SQS, CloudFront, S3, Route 53, and IAM.
• Expertise in Terraform with an emphasis on composable modules and in-depth knowledge of state management and internals beyond basic scripting.
• Proven experience scaling SaaS products from thousands to hundreds of thousands of users by building highly available, observable, elastic, resilient, and secure systems.
• Hands-on experience with test-driven IaC approaches, infrastructure testing, and managing deployment pipelines.
• Strong background in planning and conducting security audits, performance tuning, capacity planning, and disaster recovery drills.
• Excellent communication and project planning skills coupled with a proactive ownership mentality; adept in startup and scaleup environments.
• Current residence in Bangalore or nearby, with a feasible daily commute to Koramangala (preferably under 30 minutes in peak traffic), and availability to start within 30 days. No remote or relocation delays allowed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with SOC 2, ISO 27001, or GDPR compliance controls.
• Relevant AWS certifications such as DevOps Engineer, Solutions Architect - Professional, or Security Specialty.
• Familiarity with chaos engineering, AI infrastructure frameworks including retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), multi-agent runtime environments, sandboxing, and credential brokering.
• Knowledge of CircleCI Orb development and strong experience with Claude codebase.

Work Location and Conditions

This position is primarily onsite at the WeWork Prestige Cube office located in Koramangala, Bangalore. While relocation support is available, candidates are expected to live within about 30 minutes commute during peak hours.
