Internship Details

Our 10 to 12-week internship program provides students the chance to apply their academic knowledge within a real-world corporate environment. Interns will work at our corporate offices, shadow seasoned professionals, and actively participate in meaningful projects. Each intern will have a dedicated mentor to guide their professional growth and help them adapt to KiwiRail's workplace culture. The program also includes health, safety, and personal development training to prepare you thoroughly for success.

Available Positions for 2026/2027

• 1 Cyber Security Internship in Wellington
• 2 Civil Engineering Internships in Auckland
• 2 Electrical Engineering Internships in Wellington
• 6 Mechanical, Mechatronics, and Electrical Engineering Internships across Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch
• 2 Engineering or Project Management Internships in Wellington
• 1 Urban and Transport Planning / Economics Internship in Auckland

Candidate Profile

• A strong desire to learn and grow professionally
• Enrolled in academic programs relevant to the internship fields listed
• Effective communicators with a cooperative attitude
• Open to exploring diverse career pathways and engaging in impactful projects
• Must be New Zealand citizens or permanent residents
