Position Overview
We are seeking a Junior Project Manager or Project Coordinator specializing in Microsoft Azure to support cloud migration and infrastructure projects within the banking sector. This contract role requires 1-2 days onsite presence per week in Toronto, Ontario, and offers an hourly pay rate between 50 and 55 CAD.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in planning, organizing, and delivering cloud migration and IT infrastructure initiatives focused on Azure.
- Monitor project schedules, key milestones, deadlines, and interdependencies using dedicated management tools.
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation including minutes, action items, plans, status updates, and RAID logs tracking risks, assumptions, issues, and dependencies.
- Coordinate meetings, sprint planning, stakeholder communications, and follow-through activities.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, cloud architects, infrastructure and security teams to ensure seamless execution.
- Support coordination with vendors and third parties as necessary.
- Contribute to budget management, resource allocation, reporting, and ensuring adherence to project governance.
- Ensure compliance with company security, compliance policies, and governance guidelines.
- Identify and escalate risks, issues, and blockers to senior project leadership promptly.
- Encourage collaboration, continuous process improvement, and adoption of Agile methodologies.
Required Qualifications
- Between 1 and 3 years' experience as a Project Coordinator or Junior Project Manager.
- Some familiarity with cloud platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure; certifications are advantageous but not mandatory.
- Basic knowledge of IT infrastructure elements such as networking, servers, storage, and security.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with effective stakeholder management abilities.
- Experience with project and collaboration tools like Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Project, or equivalents.
- Preferably experienced in Agile or Scrum environments.
- Ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Capacity to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic setting.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, IT, Computer Science, or related fields, or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) certification.
- Experience supporting cloud migrations, data center transformations, server refreshes, or modern infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with ServiceNow and IT Service Management (ITSM) processes.
- Background in large enterprise environments such as banking, finance, healthcare, or heavily regulated sectors.
